Oliver James White On Fulfilling Project’s True Potential

Oliver James White On Fulfilling Project’s True Potential

Project: Nu Moon, 2020
Words & Artwork: Oliver James White

Over time, through music projects, I’ve learned to explore the client’s concept and vision in writing well before jumping into digital programs.

Too often I would sketch in 3D and hope for an idea or a visual to fall into my lap. This approach often led to a lot of time spent unproductively, with many concepts that I enjoyed the look of, but did not fit the brief. Once a concept truly makes sense and fits the story, the process of making suddenly becomes exciting and inspired.

Put yourself in the shoes of every client. I loved listening to the song while working and I think by doing that, a part of it made its way into the mood of the final result.

The benefit of really listening to the client will help you reach the project’s true potential.
